How finds and art inspire
Since I was a little girl, I used to go to galleries, museums, old buildings and churches with my parents and little brother. Due to my training at the art academy, I enjoy looking at art even more. By now, I have a collection of catalogues and various art books. Rather than watching TV, I like to leaf through my art books.
In the studio, I juggle with materials and objects. I usually have an idea or a feeling that I try to capture in a form. Shaping ideas into forms is a process of days, weeks, even months. Many times, something is already attractive to look at, but it is still missing something In this instance, I had an association on the painting Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez (1599 - 1660).
Then the process gained momentum, as I could focus on finding the additions I would need to make to turn a figurine into an object.
